If you ever wanted to know what a medieval castle siege could look like, you are invited to Les-Baux-de-Provence this September! During the last weekend of the month (26th and 27th of September 2009), the annually held great Medieval Festival of Les Baux will bring together numerous medieval troupes based in a big, bustling camp within the Castle's walls.
Games, music and entertainment will delight children and adults alike: stalls, archery, calligraphy, herbalists and other craftsmen will transport you back to the Middle Ages. Enjoy falconry shows and catapult demonstrations or bring the kids to the dedicated workshops where they will take part in genuine jousts and be dubbed Young Knights!
Hundreds of re-enactors in costume will march through the village streets and transform its squares and streets in a world of sound and thrilling spectacles. You will also be able to witness (and even fire yourself!) siege machines in operation, such as catapults or battering rams.
