This beautifully restored museum houses many exceptional works of art by grand masters like Granet, Ingres, Preti, Puget, Rembrandt, Rigaud, Rubens… But also has an extensive collection of sculptures, works by local artists and archeological objects.
After the French government has donated a large volume of prestigious works in 2000, ranging from Cézanne to Giacometti, and the subsequent donations and successful temporary exhibitions, the Granet Museum in Aix-en-Provence was granted the prestigious label of “Musée de France” in 2002.
After a 5 year restoration period, the museum has reopened and has again become a major attraction for the region. It is situated in the old quartier Mazarin of Aix-en-Provence, and offers access to the lovely gardens.
